Friends Who Care is a place where people with experience of mental illness and addictions can become part of, and drive, the solutions towards their own recovery.

We are located at 6 Rowe Parade, in Wainuiomata, but welcome anyone within and outside of the Hutt Valley.

Services, offerings and inspiration...

We are open for peer support from 10am until 3pm every Tuesday and Thursday, and we would love for you to visit us. We also offer mobile support, which includes support with clinicians, support in the community, advocacy, home and hospital visits...

There is a wood workshop on-site, days where you can enjoy a wonderful lunch, a beautiful garden setting and plenty to keep those creative juices flowing, such as wood burning, mosiacs, scrapbooking and computers.

Walking to the front
I see the glory of the garden
Falling in love again
Somewhere I can place my heart in

Unopened presents
Included and wanted
Genuinely welcomed
Enduring through the ages

Prayers and songs offered
Whanaugatanga
Wairua and healing
Friends and family encompassed

Belonging and alive
No two days the same
Time Out - a place of caring and sharing
Where everyone knows your name

by Jason

Since the day I came
To the place with no shame
Where everyone who was there
Had gone through their share

I felt an energy of peace
A way to release
A chance for a start
A place for the heart

A garden from Paradise
A house of great charms
A place for body and soul
A place for feet, legs and arms lol

Time to relax
I leave you with this
A song to say thanks
Have a great Christmas

Time Out is here day and night
No one comes here to be given a fright
We come and learn basic art and craft
People are always welcome, but we only close the door to keep out the draft

It can rain or shine
But people often come for a short time
Some go on outings from the valley afar
They even visit the pa

In health or sickness, people from Time Out care,
Some come here to have special care
It's open two days a week for all those to meet and greet
And that's especially neat

The place is left always nice and tidy
People say farewell
To bid Time Out to have a spell
